AFG Speech Therapy was founded in 2022 by bilingual speech language pathologist Amy Grimes to meet the need in Central Indiana for specialized evaluations and therapy for clients of all ages in the areas of swallowing and feeding, speech, language, accent modification, and corporate communication skills.
Our mission is to truly get to know each client and work to use their own unique interests, motivations, and goals to guide our practice towards better communication.
Amy Grimes is a bilingual English-Spanish speaking speech language pathologist with experience in a variety of healthcare, educational, and professional settings. Amy has over 12 years of experience providing therapy services to ages 2 months to 100+ years in the areas of swallowing, feeding, speech, language, fluency, voice, cognitive-linguistic skills, accent modification, and corporate presentation skills. She has worked in acute care hospitals, subacute rehabilitation facilities, longterm care facilities, home health, and school and university settings.
Amy is passionate about her career as a speech language pathologist because it allows her to get to know each client while providing potentially life-changing services that enable them to better represent their unique self to the world and fulfill their potential in whatever their passion may be. Amy enjoys building and maintaining relationships with parents and guardians of infant, child, and young adult clients to empower them to play a role in their child's improving skills. She is also devoted to supporting adult clients in their communication needs, whether that be in speech/language/swallowing rehabilitation following a medical event or for greater ease of communication through accent modification or corporate presentation skills.
Amy holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association and is a member of both that Association and the Indiana Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She is currently licensed as a speech language pathologist in the state of Indiana. She has a Certificate in Cultural and Linguistic Diversity and is trained by the M.A. Rooney Foundation in the Orton-Gillingham approach for the treatment of dyslexia and reading difficulty.
When not providing speech therapy services, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and two spoiled boxers. She also enjoys traveling, photography, reading, and providing voice over services.
